Jazz Festival

Presentations by artists participating in the Tonica Jazz Festival are slated at three locations along the route of the Via Recreativa on Sunday, July 13, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Hear sounds at Parque Rojo/Revolucion (Federalismo & Juarez), Plaza Universidad (Juarez & Colon) and Parque Jose Clemente Orozco (Vallarta, between Minerva Glorieta and Los Arcos, city arches).  Expect consecutive performances by at least four artists in each location.  Participants in the festival’s Jazz Camp will be playing at the same time at other metro area locations, including the Plaza de Armas, Plaza Fundadores, Andador Ezcorza and Plaza Tapatia.

 

New bicycle lane

A widened 3.8-kilometer stretch of Avenida Mariano Otero was inaugurated this week after a year of work. The four-lane concrete road also includes a bike lane separated by a small green island. The improved roadway includes some 400 streetlights and runs from Calle Francisco I. Madero to the entrance to the Primavera Forest.  About 30 neighborhoods line the new stretch of roadway, which serves about 250,000 Zapopan residents.

 

Handicrafts Expo

The 17th annual World of Handicrafts fair will be in full swing at Expo Guadalajara from July 24 to 26, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.  According to organizers, there will be a 20-percent increase in displays from last year. Prices are wholesale, direct from the manufacturers.
