RAMEN FESTIVAL

While not as beloved as tacos or tortas ahogadas, ramen is becoming increasingly popular in Guadalajara.

Hence the first annual Ramen & Foodie Festival set for Sunday, March 10 at the Jardin Americana (Avenida Vallarta 1305). Presented by Uchi Noodles and Picnic Bar, this will be the perfect place to try unique ramen and other Japanese recipes from various city restaurants from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Four zones are available for visitors. In the Uchi Zone, you can go to 15 stands to sample different ramens, sushi, poke, plus many other authentic dishes. Continue the adventure at the Foodie Zone with diverse dishes ranging from mochi, onigiri, sashimi, tatakis, and more.  From there, the Japan Market Zone will be for die-hard anime and comic fans, as well as people interested in learning about the minimalist culture. Lastly, the Japan Drink Zone will be a great place to enjoy some sake or Japanese beer. Tickets cost 50 pesos, which includeaccess to all zones, as well as some merchandise.

ST. PAT’S DAY

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day Sunday, March 17 with the Guadalajara Chapter of Democrats Abroad at The Black Sheep. Accompanied by Irish music, this event will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Calle Libertad 1872 in Colonia Americana. Not only will there be plenty of provisions but also voting registration. A 10-percent discount for your first beverage is available if you bring the ad on page 10.
