AMSOC Book Club doubles up, seeks donations

The American Society (Amsoc) Book Club will discuss “The Prisoner of Heaven” by Carlos Luis Zafon at its meeting on Thursday, January 19, 10 a.m.

NEWBOOKS magazine says Zafon’s writing is “atmospheric, descriptive and totally compelling. His words draw such solid pictures in the head of the reader that the sounds, sights and smells of underground Barcelona jump from the page.” A movie, yet to be chosen, will be screened at 1:15 p.m.

Amsoc is planning to launch an ancillary book club to be held in Spanish. The format will be the same as the English-language version, and will also meet on Thursdays.  The first meeting will be on Thursday, February 9, 10 a.m., when the operational guidelines will be drawn up.  Contact This email address is being protected from spambots.
