Former Ajijic resident remembers local charity

Former Ajijic resident Ken Ross was active in charity work when he lived here for eight years. He didn’t forget his commitment when he and his wife Suzan moved back to the United States about one-and-a-half years ago.

He recently embarked on a 500-mile biking and bridge (cards) ride through South Florida, a project that was undertaken to raise money for some of his preferred charities — one of which is the University Vocational Assistance (UVA) program at Lakeside. Several of Ross’s Lakeside friends stepped up and pledged 4,600 pesos to the local cause.

The funds will be used to assist a student in Jocotepec who is studying in Guadalajara. The UVA charity has been in the Lakeside area for more than 35 years and dedicates its efforts to support university and vocational school students who need assistance to complete their education.

Anyone interested in supporting the UVA cause should contact Lynn Hanson at 766-2660 or Sue Torres at 766-2932.
