Ajijic Cultural Center revamps top deck

The Centro Cultural de Ajijic (CCA) has taken a huge forward step with a major redesign of installations and activities on the facility’s top floor.

The most transcendent improvement is the addition of a fully equipped and secure computer room occupying the entire back corner of the third floor.  The area is furnished with wooden desks divided into ten work stations, each housing a brand new Dell desktop computer.

The Sala de Cómputo was set up as a space to be used by local school children who require computer access to do homework assignments. They are permitted entry for that purpose only under adult supervision and completely free of charge.

Purchase of the high-tech gear, including a printer, was sponsored by a group of expats, mostly Canadian nationals, who reside in the Haciendas San Antonio condominium complex.  CCA director Efren González is now lining up additional donations to add at least ten more computers before the year is out.

The refurbished third floor also accommodates furnishings for the Engraving Workshop classes conducted by Juan  Navarro and the Children’s Painting Workshop sessions directed by González.  One entire wall of the main room has been fitted with racks to display dozens of delightful kid art cards that are available for sale.

Book shelves lining the opposite wall hold the CCA library collection that is in the process of being reviewed and refined to focus on resource materials related to world art and culture.
