LCS slates forum with federal government officials

The Lake Chapala Society (LCS) will host a special meeting set for Friday, March 27, 10 a.m., delving into government procedures with Mexico’s Instituto Nacional de las Personas Adultas Mayores (INAPAM) and the Instituto Nacional de Migracion (INM).

INAPAM personnel will discuss the perks of obtaining the agency’s senior citizen discount card and distribute affiliation IDs to persons who previously filed their applications through the LCS service office.

INM officials will be there to deliver immigration visas to 50 to 100 foreign nationals who have recently qualified for temporary and permanent residency. They will also explain the ins and outs of the Programa de Regularizacion Migratoria, a temporary amnesty program available through December 18 that allows many persons who are residing in Mexico without proper documentation to correct their legal status without risk of fines or expulsion from the country. (Full details on who qualifies, the process and costs are posted on line at www.inm.gob.mx/index.php/page/regularizacion_migratoria).
