Members of the Catalina Rotary Club of Tucson, Arizona traveled to lakeside to present a check for US$47,000 to the Satellite E-Club, which is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Ajijic.
The funds will be used to provide professional teacher training to create safe and healthy schools and communities at lakeside as part of Rotary International’s anti-bullying and anti-violence project.
The training they receive will enable teachers and school administrators to implement the anti-bullying and anti-violence curriculum in area public schools. Another phase of the project will evaluate community attitudes and heighten public awareness regarding this curriculum. Selected parents of students in participating public schools and area community leaders will also receive training to help further the program’s goals.
Satellite E-Club members plan to extend the training to university students studying to be teachers, while also providing training to pre-service teachers.
