Hundreds of kids were able to relish the Christmas joy of unwrapping new playthings thanks to the many generous souls who contributed to Chapala’s ninth annual Juguetón campaign.
The round-the-clock gift collection marathon entwined in a holiday entertainment fest was held December 19 and 20 at the town’s waterfront. It brought in a record haul of 2,904 items, surpassing last year’s take by 168. The presents were distributed among the community’s most underprivileged families by volunteers from the San Francisco Church Salesian lay missionaries group who organize the event. A shout-out must go to the sponsors, with sincere thanks to all the donors who opened their hearts and pocketbooks.
