Now that the dust from a colossal three-day shindig has settled and the requisite number-crunching done, board members of the Mexican National Chili Cook-off completed their 2016 mission with the distribution of proceeds among seven deserving community organizations.
The official payout was held March 31 in the gardens of La Nueva Posada where checks made out in the amount of 32,000 pesos each were turned over to representatives of Lakeside School for Special Needs Children, Love in Action Children’s Home, Centro de Desarollo Jocotepec, Casa de Ancianos, Cruz Roja de Chapala, and Los Ninos de Chapala y Ajijic. An equivalent amount has been invested in emergency service supplies purchased for Chapala’s Civil Protection and Fire Department.
Staffers from corporate sponsor e-Sun Energy were also on hand for the occasion.
