Lake Chapala Baptist
Says Brother Bob Hendrick: “I once visited the tall ship Elissa in Galveston. I was fascinated by how every inch of space was put to use in the galley, sleeping quarters, and cabins. The three masts and 19 sails and all the rigging were a wonder to a landlubber like me. But the thing that amazed me most was found deep in the hold of the ship – barrels of concrete – tons and tons. They were there because Elissa had sailed to Galveston without cargo. The concrete was ballast so that her 99 feet and nine inches at her main mast would stay upright. Her sails total over ¼ acre of surface and without cargo or ballast a crosswind would cause her to heel and capsize. Sometimes in life we feel that God has unmercifully overburdened us. However, God knows how much ballast we need to stay upright and sailing forward in strong winds and rough seas.”
The Lake Chapala Baptist Church celebrates worship service each Sunday, 11 a.m. at Santa Margarita 147 in Riberas del Pilar.

Christ Church Episcopal
Christ Church Episcopal will observe the Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost on September 4 by joining together for Holy Communion at 9:30 a.m. in the Little Chapel by the Lake, located at Carretera 10 in Chula Vista. Warden Jim Powers will preside and give a message with the theme “Are You Prepared?” based on Luke 14:25-33.
A joint coffee fellowship of Christ Church Episcopal and the Little Chapel is held between their two services, from about 10:35 until 11:25 a.m.
There will be no Bible Study on Tuesday, September 6.  The congregation will resume tackling Daniel on September 13.

St. Andrew’s Anglican
How would you feel if your gardener suddenly moved into your household as a brother? That kind of change would be a real challenge! It is the emotional transition we are asked to make when relationships change that can create chaos within our households and communities. That was the difficulty faced by a slave owner in this Sunday’s letter from St. Paul. Paul’s advice to the man is both wise and current. Come and hear what the Spirit is saying to God’s people about how we deal with change in the Rev. Robbin Del Nagro’s sermon, “Hello Begins at Goodbye”.
Sunday worship at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church begins with the Holy Eucharist at 10 a.m.  The children’s bilingual Sunday School starts at 9:45, and coffee offers fellowship after the service.
Every Sunday, the feeding programs supported by St. Andrew’s welcome donations of non-perishable food items, left in the baskets by the Church doors.  Boxed milk and empty cardboard egg cartons are especially welcome.
St. Andrew’s is at Calle San Lucas 19, a block south of the Carretera in Riberas del Pilar.

New Hope Christian
The non-denominational congregation of the New Hope Christian Fellowship will meet at its usual time and place on Sunday, September 4. Following a brief coffee time, the 11 a.m. service will begin with prayers, scripture and hymns of praise. As a part of the service, Pastor Gene Raymer will deliver the message “What Killed Ahab?”
“Anyone who has read the 22nd chapter of First Kings will tell you it was an arrow. It says so right there in the Bible,” the pastor explains. “But I believe that something else was the real cause of his death.”
Following the service, members will continue their fellowship with a meal at Adelita’s in San Antonio.
New Hope Christian Fellowship meets each week in the upper room of the Presbyterian church in Riberas del Pilar. All Christian believers are welcomed to join.

San Andres English
“Today we celebrate the self-sacrificing love of Christ, the unfathomable wisdom of God, who was prepared to give up everything out of love for us.  In the same spirit, St. Paul was prepared to send back to Philemon, the dear friend of his captivity, Onesimus, a part of his own self.”
So says Fr. Basil G. Royston, D. Min., who will offer the homily “Christ Who Gave Up Everything for Our Sake” at San Andres Catholic Church’s English-language service Sunday, September 4, 9 a.m.
The San Andres English congregation has their “First Sunday of the Month Food Drive” September 4 to help support the children at Villa Infantil orphanage and the sisters who care for them.  Consider bringing a non-perishable food item, toilet tissue, cleaning products, and the like to Sunday’s Liturgy.
San Andres is located at the corner of Ramon Corona and Parroquia, one block from the Ajijic main plaza.

Little Chapel by the Lake
Pastor Jonathan Admire will give the sermon at the 11:30 a.m. at the Sunday, September 4 service at the Little Chapel by the Lake.
Coffee and refreshments are served before the service.
The Little Chapel is located at Carretera 10 in Chula Vista. For more information, call 766-2538.
