Lake Chapala Baptists

“Fallen people must not put their hope into other fallen people. We need a Savior who can right all wrongs.”

Such clear and strong statements of reason comprise the bulk of Interim Elder Eddie Garnett’s preaching style. “No more conflicts, no more turmoil, no more strife,” he told us. “God’s promise of peace for believers is rooted and grounded in the faithfulness of God Himself.

“As Christians, we should have an inner calmness about us. When a Christian lives in rebellion to the Word, he will have no peace in his life. We are to live in a full-time, full-hearted commitment to righteousness, and so bring glory to God.

“Our obligation is to be in a continual state of submission to God’s will. If you trust Jesus Christ for your salvation today, He will keep you forever in His love! This is, in fact, the peace and promise of Christmas.”

Share memorable weekly sermons, uplifting music, and an ongoing thirst for true wisdom Sundays at 10:45 a.m. at the Lake Chapala Baptist Church (LCBC). Sta. Margarita 147, Riberas del Pilar. LCBC’s bilingual services are Sunday at 4:30 p.m.

The LCBC choir final performance of “Advent of Peace: Breath of Heaven,” a hand-picked collection of nativity readings and beautiful music of the season including your favorite carols, is Friday, December 23, 4 p.m. at LCBC, with a bring-and-share Agape Feast after the program: FREE! Lakeside Presbyterian

This week Pastor Wayne will talk about “Questioning God.”
I have learned that wives always manage to instantly identify our flaws. I have had two wife’s, one now deceased, who seemed to have this knack. So when they have called me by my name with an annoyed voice, “Wayne,” I respond with a bewildered but innocent voice, “What?”
Now I admit that sometimes I may have a pretty good idea what I have done, but I try to appear as confused as possible.
God called Malachi as a prophet and the people acted as though they did not understand why God was unhappy with them. Here are some of their protests:
How have you loved us? How have we shown contempt for your name? How have we defiled you? How have we wearied you? How are we robbing you?

English-language service begins at 9:30 a.m. Bible study Wednesday 10 a.m.

The English service also streams each Sunday at facebook.com/LPCChapala.

If you need a ride, or more information, call 376-106-0853 Thursday, before 4 p.m.

There is coffee and refreshments after the service in the Narthex.

LPC is at Calle San Jorge 250 in Riberas del Pilar, (turn lakeside at Mom’s Restaurant).

St. Andrew’s Anglican

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year! Yes, Advent, the time when we prepare for the birth of the Christ Child, is a wonderful time of the year! Join us Sunday, December 18, for worship at 10 a.m. Rev. Michelle McKinnon-Young will preach an inspiring sermon and Rev. Robbin Moore will celebrate Holy Communion; all are welcome! St. Andrew’s choir will sing, “The Virgin Mary had a Baby Boy” and you will want to get up from your seat and dance! That’s allowed. Angel Tree donations this year are providing shoes for all the boys at Mama Cleo’s and they will be with us to sing a few songs. Afterward you can join in for cookies and coffee and stimulating conversation in the garden. At noon you have the option of joining for lunch at a local restaurant (the lunch bunch).

Carol Sing and Potluck: Wednesday, Dec. 21, 4 p.m., is the annual Christmas Carol Sing and Potluck. The potluck always promises yummy food but the carol sing is a hilariously good time, ending, of course, with “The Twelve Days of Christmas” where we all get to join in physically! Come join us to understand just what that entails.

Christmas Eve: And the Grand Finale is our Christmas Eve Service at 5 p.m. on December 24, with full choir, including some guest singers from Zapopan and instrumentalists on brass. We will be singing ALL of your favorite Christmas carols, including a special rendition of “O Holy Night.” Rev. Robbin will preach and celebrate Holy Communion. We will light candles as we sing “Silent Night” and tears will come to your eyes. Afterward we will have a bonfire and special drinks to celebrate the birth of the messiah.

Sunday services are streamed live and sermon highlights are available on Facebook/St Andrews Anglican Lake Chapala.

Todo Bueno: Our consignment shop next to S&S Auto is the perfect place to do all of your Christmas shopping this year! You can also donate unwanted Christmas gifts that you might receive but not really want the week after Christmas.

Good Bye Rev. Robbin: Our Priest in Charge, The Rev. Robbin Moore, will be retiring December 31 but stay tuned for an announcement on the new leadership team.

Abundant Life Church

When we think of birthdays we often are compelled to think of what we should give as a gift. The gift should be something the person wants but at the same time within our ability to give. When Jesus was born there were people who brought gifts according to what they could. The incredible thing is that the greatest gift was not given to the one born but rather to us. Jesus is God´s gift to you! Jesus is the gift that only God could give and way beyond our ability to earn. Come this Sunday, December 18, as we take time to contemplate the incredible gift that we have in Jesus.

English Sunday service is at the church at 10:30 a.m., also at abundantlifechapala.com. Bible studies are Wednesdays, 11 a.m. Carretera 140 in San Antonio Tlayacapan, just a block from SuperLake.

Rev. James Tierney and Senior Minister Rev. Johanny. Located at Namaste Village, Angel Flores Place 5, Ajijic or on Zoom at unitynamaste.org.
