Better late than never: San Antonio gets into patriotic spirit

On Saturday, September 23, a week later than the rest of the Chapala municipality, the village of  San Antonio Tlayacapan marked Mexican Independence with the traditional Grito ceremony carried out from the Delegación balcony, a fireworks display and a parade the following morning.

Prior to the grito, four fiestas queen were crowned: the Reina de las Fiestas, Reina Charro, Reina de la Tercer Edad and Reina de los Hijos Ausentes (Absent Sons), who is Melaney García, pictured left.
