Bridge Club News - October 14, 2023

The members of the Lake Chapala Duplicate Bridge Club are planning several social events as the holiday season approaches and snowbird members return.

Details will follow in future columns. We hope to see some old friends whose travel plans, health issues and the details of daily life may have kept them away from bridge. 

Here is a puzzle for bridge players: Everyone is vulnerable and your partner passes. You hold:

S- KQ10X H- XX D- J9XX C- XXX, you pass, your Left Hand Opponent  bids 4D- a transfer to 4H showing 6+ hearts and no slam interest, your partner now bids 4S. Here is the puzzle: a passed partner has bid at the 4 level vulnerable. What can partner have and what should you do when your Right Hand Opponent bids 5 hearts?
