Art Fair

The Lake Chapala Society kicks off with a huge Day of the Dead-themed two-day Art Fair, Friday and Saturday, October 13 and 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

This show will cover the entire LCS grounds, front and back, and highlight handicrafts and art from the Chapala and Ajijic areas. Art from over 70 artisans and artists will be exhibited, giving a hand to local Mexican artisans and artists who do not typically have opportunities to sell their art. The LCS Children’s Art Program will be selling original art, plus their art cards featuring the kids’ work. This provides important income for the young artists and their families.

Admission is free and there is ample parking on the lake front. Profits from the artist participation fees will benefit the LCS’ community outreach programs.

Open Circle

Richard Clack presents “Mind and consciousness: what is the difference?” at Open Circle Sunday, October 15, 10:30 a.m. at Lake Chapala Society.

Science and Buddhism agree: there is no lasting individual self. Something is there, though; the Buddhists even say “Empty but not void.” Clack uses insights from Ramana Maharshi and Advaita Vedanta to cast light on what is always. Understanding the difference between thought and consciousness can lead to this deep understanding.
