The eight-day celebration of Chanukah begins the evening of Sunday, December 6. As the days grow shorter, this is a feast of light, food and friends. Each day of the celebration, many parents give gifts to their children and entertain friends and family. Fried foods, especially potato pancakes and doughnuts, are served.

After seven months of weekly stories of Jesus’ ministry, and before preparing again to celebrate His birth, the annual church calendar comes to an end on the day of “Christ the King” on Sunday, November 22. Winston Welty’s sermon, “Power vs. Authority,” contrasts the Kingship of Jesus with that of every other king.

Canadian Consul Francis Uy (far left) and Ambassador to Mexico Pierre Alarie (second from right) visited lakeside Wednesday, November 11 to accompany members of the Royal Canadian Legion and 904 Wing of the Royal Canadian Air Force Association for the annual Remembrance Day Service. Later in the day they appeared for a meet-and-greet at the monthly meeting of the Canadian Club of Lake Chapala and squeezed in a private meeting with Chapala Mayor Javier Degollado.
