Inspectors said they issued citations to 18 men and three women for selling animals “on the street and without a municipal license.” Municipal police officers who accompanied the inspectors arrested a man hawking a boa constrictor.
Representatives of five animal welfare agencies also assisted in the operation. The sprawling Sunday market on the eastern side of the city is renowned as a hub for stolen merchandize.
