A man who held up a Guadalajara convenience store with a toy gun was shot and injured by an off-duty security guard, who authorities said “worked for an (unidentified) official from Chapala” and who by chance happened to be in the outlet at the time of the assault.
The incident occurred at the corner of Niños Heroes and Simon Bolivar. The assailant was injured in the arm and admitted to hospital in police custody.
