Leonardo DiCaprio fans in Guadalajara are planning a mass celebration at the Minerva Glorieta if the actor finally wins an Oscar this month.
The gathering is planned for February 28 in the site traditionally used by Chivas fans to celebrate soccer victories. DiCaprio, who has famously received four nominations but never actually won, is the odds-on favorite to finally triumph this year.
Fans have set up a Facebook group called “If Leo wins, everyone to the Minerva,” in anticipation of his taking home the best actor award for his portrayal of a fur trapper in “The Revenant,” an epic revenge tale by Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu.
Nearly 7,000 people have declared their intention to attend the event, which is one of several celebrations planned in locations across Mexico.
