Public readings of ‘Frankenstein’ on World Book Day

“Frankenstein” beat out Roald Dahl’s “The Witches” and Rubén Darío’s “Azul…” in an online vote held over three days last month.

Similar readings – although shorter – of Shelley’s work are scheduled at 66 UdG high schools on Friday, April 22, as well as in several metro area cultural centers: Casa Colomos (10 a.m.), Luis Páez Brotchie (10 a.m.), Atlas (10 a.m. and 4 p.m.), Hacienda Oblatos (4 p.m.), Santa Cecilia (5:30 p.m.) y San Andrés (4:30 p.m.),

According to the UdG, 192,953 people have participated in the annual public readings since the program launched in 2002.

World Book Day, an international tribute to books and authors designed to help young people discover the pleasure of reading, was introduced by UNESCO in 1995.
