Back to school – for some at least

Summer vacation is over! Most high school (prepa) and university students returned to classes this week, with primary and secondary institutions preparing to open their doors on Monday, August 22.

The largest block of students in Jalisco – 265,000 – will be enrolled in state-funded Universidad de Guadalajara (UdG) high schools and university courses.  However, only 38 percent of applicants for UdG higher education places were accepted this year: 17,582 out of 45,785. Degree courses with the most demand were medicine, law, nursing, psychology, accountancy, international business, veterinary medicine, nutrition and architecture.

Students from 28 nations will be studying at UdG campuses during the coming academic semester.
