Drivers and bus owners want a substantial rise from the current fare of six/seven pesos to around ten pesos.

A tariff committee is currently analyzing proposals but is not expected to recommend an increase higher than eight pesos.

The state government has authorized fare hikes from six to seven pesos on 57 city routes that have verified that their buses are compliant with recently approved safety and other regulations.
