Lake opens in city’s most popular park

After more than two decades of indecision and delays, a lake has finally opened in the Parque Metropolitano, the largest public green space in the Guadalajara metro area.

The fenced-in lake is surrounded by a smooth path and features a fountain in its center, which will be switched on at peak occupancy times for the park, which probably means only at weekends.

Four shaded, concrete “picnic” areas are placed to one side of the lake.  While a pleasant addition to the park, the lake currently contains rather murky colored – and weedy – water.  Some ducks, or other waterfowl are needed maybe? Parque Metropolitano is open daily at Beethoven and Independencia in Colonia La Estancia, Zapopan.
