Tapatio Tour fourist buses spread their wings

After starting tours last month to Tequila, Tapatio Tour will soon launch a regular bus trip to the Lake Chapala area, the company’s commercial director has revealed.

Although the Tapatio Tour website contains an announcement for the Chapala tour, the details have yet to be released.

pg6bThe tour to Tequila debuted on October 7 and leaves daily from the Rotunda in front of the Museo Regional at 9:30 a.m. The cost is 550 pesos for adults and 450 pesos for children.  Reservations can be made at (33) 3613-0887 and 3614-7430.

As well as the Chapala tour, an expanded itinerary will also include special trips to events such as lucha libre, as well as cantinas and cultural events in Tlaquepaque. The aim is to attract more local clients, in addition to the tourists who make up the bulk of the business, says Tapatio Tour Commercial Director Luis Bautista. The firm also rents out its buses for private events.

The double-decker, get-on/get-off tourist bus service current operates on four routes in the Guadalajara metropolitan area. They run daily from 9:30 a.m. taking in the main attractions of the city center and its close environs, as well as to Zapopan, Tlaquepaque and Tonala.  The buses leave at regular intervals from the Rotunda monument. Tickets cost 120 pesos (70 for children) on weekdays, and 130 pesos (80 for children) at weekends.

The open-top buses have running commentary explaining the sights along the route in Spanish and English.
