Fake avocados contained huge drug stash

Tuesday, federal agents stopped a trailer in Tlajomulco that was headed up north with a load of what appeared to be fruit, vegetables and agave piñas (pineapples).

On closer inspection, however, the officers quickly realized that the cargo was not all it seemed to be.

Stashes of marijuana had been stuffed inside the piñas, and many of the avocados were not in fact avocados at all, but realistic plastic imitations filled with drugs.

In total, the agents commandeered around 100 kilograms of weed, presumably destined for the U.S. market. The driver of trailer was placed under arrest.
