City bakery accused of intellectual property theft

“Georgetown” made customers assume it was a part of Georgetown Cupcake in the U.S. capital. Their cupcakes had the same names, designs, colors and casings as the Washington business, and their publicity was almost a direct copy, said Roberto Arochi, the lawyer for the U.S. firm.

Arochi confirmed that Georgetown Cupcake does not operate a branch in Guadalajara and that a complaint has been filed with the Mexican Industrial Property Institute (IMPI).
“Georgetown” is located in the Plaza Fusion Galerias in  Colonia Providencia.
