Minerva beer heads north

Guadalajara craft beer Minerva will be distributed in the United States by the Pabst Brewing Company, which is headquartered in Los Angeles, California.

A selected number of Minerva brews will be tested in U.S. markets in the spring of next year.

Tourists flooding in

Passenger traffic at the Guadalajara International Airport increased by 18.1 percent during November, according to figures released by the airport’s operators, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico (GAP). Much of the increase was due to greater passenger flow on domestic routes to Tijuana, Monterrey and Cancun, although international traffic also showed a significant increase.

Hotel switch in Plaza del Sol

The Hotel Arriva Express, located to one end of Plaza del Sol, is being remodeled and will reopen in May 2017 as the AC Marriot Guadalajara Expo.

New flight to Milwaukee

Budget Mexican airline Volaris will offer twice weekly, nonstop flights between Guadalajara and Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from March 2 of next year. Flights will leave Guadalajara on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:53 p.m., arriving in Milwaukee at 8:55 p.m. The return flights depart Milwaukee on Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:32 a.m., arriving in Guadalajara at 5:02 a.m.

FIL to welcome Madrid in 2017

The Spanish capital of Madrid will be the guest of honor at the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) in 2017, the 31st edition of the mammoth literary event.  In making the announcement at the conclusion of this year’s fair, FIL Director Marisol Schulz said Guadalajara and Madrid share “very good chemistry.”
