Flower Fair to take over Chapultepec

Dozens of vendors will fill the central divider of Guadalajara’s Avenida Chapultepec for the ninth Winter Floral and Agro-industry Fair (Novena Feria de las Flores y Agroindustrias Invierno 2017) from Friday, December 1 through Sunday, December 3.

pg10The fair will showcase floriculture and agro-industrial products from all over Jalisco, the invited state of Oaxaca and China.  Exhibitors from Russia and Peru will also be showing their merchandize during the three-day event.

Buyers looking to purchase poinsettias for their holiday displays should find plenty of quality examples on offer, as well as many other ornamental plant and floral varieties.

The event will run concurrently with the third Jalisco Honey Festival (Feria Jalisciense de la Miel), which will also encompass producers of jams, typical candies, sweet sauces and rompope, a traditional creamy seasonal liquor.  Many derivative honey products, including sweets, propolis, soaps, shampoos and body creams, will also be available for purchase.

Floriculture encompasses the cultivation of flowers or flowering plants, particularly for ornamental purposes, while agro-industry deals with the supply, processing and distribution of farm products.

The festival will be held along the wide central divider of Avenida Chapultepec between Avenida La Paz and Avenida Mexico.  There is no entry cost. Open from 10 a.m.

Lake Chapala area residents can take the opportunity of combining a Sunday trip to see the flower festival together with a visit to the entertaining Trocadero Antiques Market, which runs along a pedestrian section of Avenida Mexico that intersects with the northern end of Chapultepec.  The two events will virtually “run into” each other.  The Trocadero Market is open from around 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
