Migrant advocacy groups to benefit from food fair

A Gastronomic and Cultural Fair on Sunday, September 24 (World Day of Migrants and Refugees) kicks off the Diversity and Belonging Festival (Festival de la Diversidad Cultural y Pertenencia),

a week-long event that aims to “bring together people who shape the cultural mosaic of the Guadalajara metropolitan area and create spaces to promote the exchange of ideas and the creation of an inclusive, respectful and equitable community for the residents and visitors of this great city.”

The festival and food fair is held in collaboration with organizations and institutions serving the city’s migrant and refugee population: the United Nations Agency for Refugees or UNHCR, the Rhizome Center for Migrants, Caminantas, FM4 and Guanatos GDL SUR.  The academic and cultural activities include talks, workshops, round table discussions, book events, a poetry night and a photo exhibit.
