Local race ace eager for win in home Grand Prix

Guadalajara’s Formula One race driver Sergio “Checo” Perez is hoping for a career-defining victory in the Mexican Grand Prix on Sunday, October 29.

“It’s my most important race of the year,” says the Red Bull team driver, who lies in second place in the championship standings behind teammate Max Verstappen, who has already won the title, after winning 15 of the 18 F1 races held this year.

Perez is 39 points ahead of third-placed Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time F1 champion from the Mercedes team.

Despite Verstappen’s domination of the 2023 F1 season, Perez is happy with his performances, having won two races earlier in the year.

Sunday’s race at the Hermanos Rodriguez autodrome in Mexico City on Sunday starts at 2 p.m. You can watch it on the Fox Sports network.

A Formula One “Fan Zone” will be set up in Guadalajara’s Plaza Liberacion Friday, October 26 through Sunday, October 28 with plenty of activities related to this popular international motorsport, as well as giant screens to watch the qualifying sessions and the race itself.
