Highway heists highlighted

Truck drivers staged a peaceful protest last week at kilometer 40 of the Guadalajara-Morelia highway to highlight the insecurity they face each day on Jalisco roads.

Among the worst highways for armed heists, the drivers said, are the Macrolibramiento, the Guadalajara-Chapala highway, the El Salto corridor and the highway to Los Altos.

Firefighters on motos

The Guadalajara Fire Department will become only the second of its kind in Mexico to operate a motorcycle unit to act as first responders in emergency situations.  The squad  will consist of 24 officers specialized in both firefighting and first aid, who will use nine motorcycles that will allow them to get to the scenes of emergencies before any other agency.

Airport arrivals up

Jalisco recorded an increase of 12.2 percent in the number of domestic and international passengers arriving at the Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta airports in 2023: 12,170,996, compared to 10,850,652 in 2022, according to the Pacific Airport Group (GAP), operators of the two facilities.
