Four-kilometer Paseo Alcalde finally finished

Municipal and state authorities have cut the ribbon on what they are calling the “final section” of the Paseo Alcalde in downtown Guadalajara, although this part of the “walkway” is not free of vehicles.

The work involved the renovation of the one-kilometer stretch of Avenida 16 de Septiembre between La Paz and Washington avenues. The labor involved replacing the road surface, widening sidewalks, and installing safe crossings, new lighting, a cycle path, updated drainage and other infrastructure, as well as general beautification.

The Paseo Alcalde extends four kilometers along Avenida Alcalde/16 de septiembre, from the Glorieta La Normal, through the downtown core (Cathedral/Plaza de Armas), to the entrance to the Agua Azul Park. Half of the walkway is entirely pedestrian.
