Techno wizardry

Afterlife, a world-acclaimed techno event founded in 2016 by Italian duo Tale Of Us, comes to the Akron Stadium in Guadalajara Friday, May 17.

Described “as odyssey through the realm of consciousness,” Afterlife has “evolved from an event series and record label to become a multi-dimensional platform for groundbreaking artists and visually sensational installations.” Tickets, 1,450 to 2,800 pesos from Ticketmaster.

Magical evening

Harry Potter fans can see three iconic scenes from the books/movie series acted out, with music provided by the Orquesta Sinfonca Juvenil de Guadalajara at the Teatro Galerias Sunday, May 19, 6 p.m.  Tickets from boletia.com or the Galerias box office.

Boozy days

Expo Guadalajara hosts Expo Cerveza GDL from May 24 to 26. Expect to find dozens of local and national craft beers (and a few international brands) for tasting and for sale. Hours are Friday, May 24, 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday, May 25, noon to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, May 26, noon to 7 p.m. Tickets, 170 pesos per day include free commemorative glass if purchased online (glasses are 25 pesos extra if tickets are purchased at the door). Uplifting dance

The renowned Universidad de Guadalajara Ballet Folclorico troupe has scheduled shows for each Saturday during June at its traditional home, the Teatro Degollado in the city center. This professional and exciting and troupe is generally considered Mexico’s finest exponent of folk dance, and should be seen by all lovers of Mexican culture at least once in their lives. The performances are on June 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, all at 6 p.m. Tickets from boletia.com or the Degollado box office.
