Weekly Worship - June 15, 2024

Unitarian Universalists

Sunday, June 16, Dee Dee Camhi will speak on “Solstice Service” with several assistants.

The Summer Solstice is that time of year when the sun is at its furthest point from the equator. It has been marked as the high point of summer—or midsummer—since the Neolithic time. At the same time, the Southern Hemisphere points away from the sun, creating winter.
At our service, we will look at  the various ways the Solstice has been celebrated around the world and incorporate a few of these traditions into our time together.

Sunday service is  at  noon, at the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship’s new location at San Luis 19 in Riberas del Pilar (one block south of the previous address).

Lakeside Presbyterian

Pastor Wayne will give the sermon this Sunday about Facing the Unexpected.

I like the little song at the beginning of the "Monk" series.  It says, “It’s a jungle out there, disorder and confusion everywhere.” The Gospel of John offers us a window into the final conversations Jesus had with his disciples before his crucifixion.  In today’s passage, John 16:16-20, we find a group of followers facing a future filled with uncertainty. Jesus is talking about leaving them, and they don’t understand what’s to come. Their confusion likely mirrors feelings we’ve all experienced at some point in our lives. Why does God not give more exact instructions about his plan for us?

The English-language service is at 9:30 a.m., which also streams live at facebook.com/LPCChapala. Everyone is welcome to Wednesday drop-in Bible study. If you need a ride, or more information, call  376-106-0853 before 4 p.m. on Thursday.
