Students protesting Israel’s war in Gaza last week set up a tent camp outside the University of Guadalajara (UdeG) rectory building.
The Palestine Solidarity Committee in Guadalajara have urged Mexico’s federal government to break relations with Israel, in line with Colombia and Bolivia, whose leftist presidents say what is happening in Gaza is tantamount to genocide.
However, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has consistently ruled out any measures, saying Mexico will remain neutral, while urging rationality to prevail and a ceasefire implemented.
