Since the first of this year, volunteers in charge of the non-partisan Vote from Abroad assistance program offered twice a month at the Lake Chapala Society say they have noticed a sharp drop in U.S. citizens seeking help with voter registration procedures and applications to obtain ballots.
They stress the importance of requesting ballots as early as possible in light of the enormous turnover of election officials that has occurred in many states since the 2020 elections.
In many cases, new personnel are barely learning the ropes and may not work as efficiently as those with extensive experience in dealing with overseas voters.
U.S. citizens residing at lakeside are welcome to request personalized assistance from volunteers who have been doing this work here for over ten years. They may also opt to log on to votefromabroad.org on their home computers.
