Roberta Jacobson, the former U.S. ambassador to Mexico, has been named as part of the 500-strong team that will work to prepare the incoming administration of President-elect Joe Biden to take control of the federal government.

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador says the arrest of retired general Salvador Cienfuegos, the country’s minister of defense from 2012 to 2018, on a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration warrant at Los Angeles International Airport last week, is another example of the “decomposition” of the civil service that prevailed under previous administrations.

A Los Angeles judge has ordered Luz del Mundo church leader Naasón Joaquín García to stand trial after prosecutors filed 36 new charges, including sexual abuse, lewd acts against a minor and extortion, allegedly committed in Southern California between June 2015 and June 2019, the date of his arrest.
