Two of the six Chapala police officers arrested on allegations of criminal activity regained their liberty last week. Isaac Barrionuevo Vazquez and Felipe de Jesus Ojeda Palacios have been freed following a release order issued by the Chapala criminal court.
According to Gabriel Sanchez, supervisor of the Chapala Ministerio Publico, the judge determined that there was insufficient evidence to proceed with the case lodged against them. The state has appealed the finding.
Sanchez reports that Mario Alberto Cruz Calvario, Horacio Efrain Rivera Rosales, Ernesto Chavez Bautista and Juan Garcia Lopez have been formally jailed to face charges of attempted homicide, organized crime, abuse of authority and undue exercise and abandonment of public service.
