Two employees of the Jocotepec Water and Sewage Department (Simapa) died Monday, May 6 in a work related accident.
Gerardo Daniel Cuevas and Mario Escoto Chacón were buried alive under an avalanche of earth and stones that collapsed on top of the trench where they were installing a drainage line running parallel to the highway on the western outskirts of San Juan Cosala.
Rescue teams from Chapala, Jocotepec and Guadalajara took nearly three hours to dig the bodies out from where they fell and were asphyxiated under several meters of rubble.
