Ajijic post office moves to new digs

The Ajijic branch of Mexico’s postal service, Correos de Mexico, was relocated to a new address at Carretera Oriente 29 as of May 6.

The post office is still situated on the north side of the highway, in a two-story building set along the service road between Calles Encarnacion Rosas and Javier Mina. Nearby landmarks are Donas Donuts and Farmacias Guadalajara at the Encarnacion Rosas intersection and Hospital Clinica Ajijic and Gossips Restaurant at the next corner.

According to staff, post office customer feedback on the change has been positive, with special mention of more ample parking spots for cars and easier accessibility on foot compared to the steep ramp, steps and slippery flooring of the previous location.

The facility houses 960 post-office boxes, of which well over half are leased to expatriates. The current rental fee runs at 300 pesos per year. Business hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, closed on Sundays and national holidays.
