Live entertainers slated for Chapala Tequila Festival

As if free samplings of Mexico’s emblematic firewater isn’t enough to draw hoards of visitors, the three-day Festival del Tequila Chapala 2013 will offer plenty of south-of-the-border style entertainment.

The tequila fest program opens Friday, July 19, 5 p.m., with an opening ceremony, followed by a Mariachi Gala running from 6 to 8 p.m.

Highlight acts for Saturday, July 20 include the Alaka’i Kela Polynesian dance troupe at noon, the Carlos Rayo Ballet Folklorico, appearing at 5 p.m., and San Juan Cosala’s accomplished Son de Mexico troupe closing out at 8:30 p.m.

Musical groups booked for Sunday, July 21 include a children’s chorus, going on stage at noon, the Ensamble Latino Chapala scheduled at 5 p.m. and the Mariachi Juvenil Real de Oro headlining the 7 p.m. finale.

On all three days stands set up along the Chapala waterfront by Jalisco tequila producers will offer free tastings and sales by the bottle of 50 different brands. Local craftsmen will also be on hand to hawk their goods and wares.
