LCS presents new art for 2014 directory

The Lake Chapala Society (LCS) recently gave first prize in their yearly Children’s Art Contest to 15-year-old Oscar Orlando Ibarra Lopez. The young artist from San Antonio Tlayacapan will see his artwork grace the cover of the society’s 2014 directory, which is due out in early February of next year.

This is the second year Ibarra has had artwork published in the directory. Last year he received second place and his piece titled “The Bird” was featured on the page just before the membership white pages directory.

This year's piece is entitled "Dos Bellezas de la Naturaleza Unidas," or "Two Beauties of Nature United."

The directory has in the past only been given to LCS members and advertisers. This year the LCS is printing an extra 2,000 copies without the white pages and distributing them via the U.S. and Canadian consulates and other venues to reach the greater Guadalajara market, according to LCS Executive Director Terry Vidal.

The directory includes the contact information for some 1,500 members and is a vital tool for contacting other expats at Lakeside. A blue pages section offers an overview and history of the society, its programs and services and a page with contacts for government and other local organizations, a list of holidays, and important local data. Foreign embassy and consulate numbers are also displayed.

A yellow pages with an index makes finding the right business a snap. Advertisers in the directory can also be found at www.lakechapalasociety.org.

The 2014 directory will soon be wrapping up its advertising sales  and groups, business and individuals who wish to impact this valuable market of some 3,000 society members should contact LCS directory advertising respresentative Nyah Walters.
