Street dogs the stars of new Spanish-language short story tome

The recently published “Huérfanos de Humano” (Orphans of Man) by animal activist Cinthia Orozco de Gortari is a compilation of true short stories about area street dogs.

A book signing and presentation (in Spanish) will be held on Saturday, May 3 in the lobby of the municipal building in Chapala.

The author is a volunteer in the Ajijic Rotary Dog Assisted Therapy program and a humane education teacher. Her book, published in Spanish, is a testimony to her contagious passion for the welfare of animals and a protest against the injustices committed against man’s best friend. Orozco de Gortari hopes the book will help promote greater compassion and respect for all animals, but especially for street dogs.

The book is currently being translated into English by Susan Renna. For information about the May 3 event or the release of the English version, call the author at (376) 765-7454, or cell (33) 1797-8601.
