Issuance of Jalisco drivers licenses at the Chapala branch of the Secretaria de Movlidad (SeMov) has been suspended for more than two months due to a breakdown of the office’s link to the agency computer system.
José de Jesús Vargas Michel, acting SeMov commander for the lakeside region, acknowledges that the service will remain out of commission indefinitely, pending a solution to the problem by headquarters in Guadalajara.
In the meantime, local motorists will have to carry out procedures at alternate locations. First time licenses and renewals may be obtained at the central SeMov office, Prolongación Avenida Alcalde at Avenida Circunvalacion 1351, in Guadalajara, or the Semov branch in Ocotlán, located in the Unirse state services unit at Plaza San Felipe, Avenida Universidad 950, near the University of Guadalajara campus. Renewals are also issued at Guadalajara’s Plaza Las Torres branch, Lázaro Cárdenas at Avenida 8 de Julio.
Enquire at the Chapala office, Flavio Romero 405-A at Calle Guerrro, for a list of document requirements, current fee schedule and other relevant details.
