Viva Catarsis Trio concert not to be missed

Ajijic native, violinist Diego Rojas Miramontes, will take the stage of the Auditorio de la Ribera del Lago with a Guadalajara pianist and a cellist from Veracruz as the Cataris Piano Trio is presents a  concert Thursday, February 5 at 7 p.m. The musicians received rave reviews for their Viva concert last year. 

This performance will include Beethoven´s “Sonata No. 8” for violin and piano, Rachmaninov’s “Piano Trio No. 1 in C minor,” “Elegiac” and three jazz pieces for piano trio by Israeli Ilan Rechtman.

Pianist Azelea Beltran entered the Music School of the University of Guadalajara at age 12 and later graduated as a Master of Music. She has studied with great pianists from Mexico and around the world. Beltran performed Mozart’s “Piano Concerto No. 23” and Grieg’s Piano Concerto No.16 with the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO).

Rojas Miramontes began studying in CREM (the Ajijic Music School) at age 9. Now a member of JPO, he has performed with many groups since his graduation from the University of Guadalajara with a master’s degree in music. He is the violinist of quartet “Cuerdas Revueltas” and teaches at CREM.

Yalissa Cruz was born in Xalapa, Veracruz, and began playing the cello at age 7. She studied music at University of Veracruz and has played with youth orchestras in Veracruz and Zapopan. Presently Yalissa plays with the JPO and is principal cellist of the Orquesta Filarmonica Ricardo Castro in Durango. 

Tickets for the concert are 200 pesos and available at Diane Pearl Colecciones, the auditorium box office and at the Lake Chapala Society from Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. until noon.
