The new ShowStoppers is coming! Yes, popular local choir Los Cantantes del Lago is gearing up to present its latest ‘ShowStoppers 10’ concert at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church on Sunday, February 15 at 4 p.m.
These ShowStoppers concerts have become a local tradition and a firm favorite and, to judge from the program, this one will not disappoint.
As usual, Emcee and Script Author Ken Yakiwchuk will guide the audience through the whole performance, introducing the performers and providing useful explanation and background to the various offerings as necessary.
This show is packed with well-known Broadway songs from South Pacific, Annie Get Your Gun and the Pajama Game and West Side Story, together with other works by Gershwin, Lerner and Loewe and Berlin, performed by members of this accomplished choir under the direction of Music Director and accompanist Timothy G. Ruff Welch.
Lending their musical expertise to several numbers are Milton Bass on acoustic bass, Rick Jasper on flute then saxophone, Mike Leisenbach on saxophone and then flute and Lalo on cello.
There will be solos from various members of the choir including Jayme Littlejohn, who will also be adding the essential comedic element at some point in the proceedings.
