Cops nab suspects involved in political brawl

Four men identified as suspects in a violent attack on campaign supporters of Movimiento Ciudadano candidate Moises Anaya more than two months ago in Chapala were captured last week, according to a press release divulged by the Jalisco Attorney General (FGE).

Two of Anaya’s allies suffered gunshot wounds and another sustained head injuries from being struck with rocks during a brawl between the bitter political rivals that broke out around 2:30 a.m. May 13. Vehicles were also severely vandalized during the fray. Several hours later, a hand-lettered banner reading “Sigues tu (you’re next) Moy Anaya” was discovered on the doorstep of the candidate’s home.

Last week, while patrolling the streets of Chapala’s Las Redes neighborhood, FGE agents located and collared Alejandro “N” (alias El Mini 2),  Rosendo “N” (aka El Chendo), Juan Carlos “N” (aka El Yiyo) and  Carlos Alberto “N” (aka El Cacala), all named in the arrest warrant issued by the District 15 criminal court May 17. The latter of the four has been singled out as a bodyguard employed by Chapala’s current mayor when the confrontation occurred.

The presumed assailants face charges of attempted homicide.
