Motorists in the Lake Chapala area have encountered sporadic fuel shortages at local service stations over the past week.
Many outlets ran out of regular and/or premium gasoline during the January 4-6 weekend, while diesel was readily available at most locations.
Short waiting lines were observed early this week at service stations that were operating normally. Personnel indicated that tanker trucks have been delivering fresh fuel supplies daily, though not necessarily in sufficient quantity to meet customer demands. A few stations have started limiting purchase amounts.
At press time Thursday, residents sharing information on social media reported that two Pemex outlets in Chapala and the BP station on the Libramiento were out of fuel and lines of cars were growing at pumps in Ajijic and Riberas del Pilar.
