While Chapala authorities have taken a lax approach to enforcing individual use of face masks in public places, they have started cracking down more stringently on businesses that are caught in violation of state sanitation directives issued to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Last weekend the municipality’s Department of Regulations, carried out inspections at 102 commercial outlets, issuing one warning and eight citations for failures to adhere to Covid-19 prevention measures. On Thursday, July 16, a newly opened restaurant-bar located in an Ajijic shopping complex was closed down for omissions in following health and hygiene standards. The business was reported on social networks.
