Chapala First Lady Mariana Villanueva Ochoa was the guest speaker at the August 13 meeting of the Chapala Sunrise Rotary, held over breakfast at the Acapulquito Restaurant.
It was the organization’s first in-person gathering since the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in March.
Villanueva Ochoa, who is currently awaiting the birth of her third child, serves as honorary president of the Family Development Agency (DIF) in Chapala. She spoke on the programs and services the agency provides for the social and economic development of local families, such as free meals for schoolchildren and the elderly, food baskets, educational and recreational workshops, and health care.
Chapala Sunrise Rotary recently donated 10,000 pesos to DIF to help with food distribution projects. The club anticipates further involvement in its varied community assistance initiatives.
