Digging starts on new Ajijic well

Last week’s activation of the statewide Covid-19 “emergency button” notwithstanding, the Chapala government is forging ahead with a number of public works projects.

pg11aOne that will have significant impact for many inhabitants of Ajijic is the perforation of a new well which was kicked off Tuesday, November 10, by Mayor Moisés, with Jorge Gastón González Alcérreca, Jalisco’s head of Integral Water Management, at his side.

The site of the well is located at the far outskirts of Ajijic on the north side of the highway. Once in operation it will supply neighborhoods and residential developments in the vicinity of Alsececa, La Canacinta and points west up to the Jocotepec borderline that have suffered from growing water shortages in recent years.

The State Water Commission (CEA) is in charge of digging the well, and shouldering the costs of installing the drilling machinery and manpower for its operation. Due to uncertain factors, there is no established timeframe for finishing the job.
